For the First Time
in Six Years,
PC Sales Are Up Market research firms,
Gartner and IDC, both
confirm the increase in PC sales. IDC claims a 2.7 percent increase,
while Gartner reports
a 1.4 percent growth. The two research firms
track PC shipments differently. IDC includes Chromebooks in their data,
while excluding Windows tablets. Gartner
includes Windows-based tablets and excludes Chromebooks and non-Windows-based tablets. Mikako Kitagawa, principal analyst at Gartner Jay Chou, research manager at IDC PC sales appear to be stabilizing after years of decline, with the top five companies continuing to dominate. Those companies are HP, Lenovo, Dell, Apple and Acer.
