The record breaking heat wave sweeping across the nation also dominated the Cabinet meeting this Tuesday morning... with the President highlighting the need to consider the prolonged heat wave as a natural disaster under the Disaster and Safety Management Law.
Chairing the weekly meeting as temperatures in South Korea continue break record highs and death toll from heat-related causes hit 10 this year according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the South Korean president urged his government to come up with a comprehensive plan for the prolonged heat wave.
Measures, he said, should include drawing up a crisis management manual for heat waves and compensation plan for damages caused by extreme heat.
