Tom Cruise's First
Jobs as a Kid In 2012, Tom Cruise told 'Playboy',
"I've always had a work ethic." Cruise had to start working
early in life because money was
tight in his childhood home. The jobs that the young Thomas Cruise Mapother took on were to help his family but also to be able to go to the movies. Cruise told 'People' that he "wanted
to make movies since I was 4 years old." Some of the jobs Cruise took on as a youngster include cutting grass, raking leaves, paper routes, and selling
Easter and Christmas cards. Cruise also briefly considered
becoming a catholic priest at one time. Cruise spent five months busing tables in New York City before landing a small role in 'Endless Love,' starring Brooke Shields. After more small roles, Cruise
landed his big break, starring in
the 1983 comedic hit, 'Risky Business.' Nowadays, Cruise is one of the highest-paid actors in the business, raking in a total of $43 million in 2017, according to CBS.
