The Supreme Court has upheld the constitutional validity of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act. The apex court has set aside petitions from some private institutions that opposed reserving 25% seats for children of economically weaker sections of society. However minority run institutions have been exempted from the provision. The 3 judge bench ruled in favour with a 22 to 1 majority.... Thus the govt's version of the Act virtually stands unaltered.
