In an embarrassment to Congress, party's MP Vijay Darda on Sunday praised Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi calling him a 'national saint' and a tiger. Darda's remarks are likely to spark political storm across party lines. However, the Congress leader was quick to add that his statement was out of respect for Modi. He said: "I am from the Jain community, what I said was out of respect, no need to make an issue out of this." The words of praise by Darda also have raised questions if the Congress leader will meet a similar fate as expelled Samajwadi leader Shahid Siddiqui. The SP had on Saturday distanced itself from Shahid Siddiqui, saying he is no longer a part of the party two days after his interview with Modi made waves.
