Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday tendered his resignation as the MP from Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency, which he won by a massive margin of 570,128 votes.
He put in his papers in the office of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Modi also won from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, which was the second constituency from where he contested.
Modi's trusted aide Amit Shah, a BJP legislator from Naranpura (Gujarat), is likely to resign from the state Assembly and could be sent to Parliament from Vadodara.
