The Congress on Sunday suspended its MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma from the primary membership of the party for describing Rahul Gandhi as "MD of Congress circus" and calling his advisers "jokers". With Sharma's suspension, who represents Sardarshahar in Churu, the Congress's strength stands reduced to 20 in the 200-member assembly. The ruling BJP has 163 MLAs.
"We're a democratic party but Sharma was found guilty of using foul language against our senior leaders. We had no option but to suspend him as the party won't tolerate indiscipline," Pradesh Congress committee chief Sachin Pilot told.
