These are spontaneous protests erupting across Karnataka demanding a CBI probe into the death of an Honest IAS Officer DK Ravi. Effigies were burnt and slogans raised but they were stamped out with an iron fist by an adamant state machinery. Police had to resort to lathicharge to control the protesters but an undeterred BJP has already announced a relay hunger strike. Opposition BJP and JDS having first stalled the Assembly took their protest to the governor. Their memorandum demands a CBI probe.
