Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle shared on ANC's "Talkback with Tina Palma" that the phrase "bahala na" came from the word Bathala. "Bahala comes from the word 'Bathala'... in the Philippines, there seems to be or have been a recognition...of a divine being that they call Bathala," he said.
