US Implements 3-Digit
Suicide Hotline .
The Federal Communications Commissions (FCC)
approved the 988 dial-code on Thursday.
The hotline will provide
mental health support
and is intended to relieve
some pressure off the 911 line.
988 has an echo of the 911 number we all know as an emergency number. We believe that this three-digit number dedicated for this purpose will help ease access to crisis services. , FCC chairman Ajit Pai, via statement.
The FCC is requiring that all
telephone providers implement
the dial-code within 18 months.
