Johnny Depp Loses , UK Libel Action Against Tabloid.
British tabloid 'The Sun' had referred to the
'Pirates of the Caribbean' star as a "wife beater.".
An article appeared in the tabloid in 2018
which alleged that Depp, 57, was violent with his
ex-wife, Amber Heard, 34, more than a dozen times.
The justice overseeing
the case stated that the article as
published "was substantially true.".
I have found that the great majority of alleged assaults of Ms. Heard by Mr. Depp have been proved to the civil standard, Justice Andrew Nicol, via NBC News.
Depp has denied the allegations,
referring to them as a "hoax.".
Depp's legal team referred to the ruling as
"perverse" and "bewildering," saying the
judge put too much emphasis on Heard's testimony.
