This is a really early reconstruction of Episode 4 of the Doctor Who story 'The Tenth Planet', produced by the West Lodge reconstruction team from Australia potentially between the late 1980's and early 1990's. It is believed that this is the earliest attempt to recreate the missing episode and would have served as the main way for fans to relive this classic until later reconstructions were made by the likes of the Loose Cannon and Joint Venture teams in the much later 90's. As the title of this video suggests, this is NOT the original and is an attempt to bring the reconstruction "up to date" in 2020 for a modern audience.
When this reconstruction was created the individuals that attempted to put this together were unable to incorporate the original audio of the episode itself with it being very likely that this was unable to be obtained. Therefore, the character dialogue was produced by those who were attempting to recreate the final episode of this adventure. This 2020 version gives an interpretation of what this episode would be like with the original audio assuming the reconstruction team were making this from the mid-90's onwards which may have been preferable to those that were behind the creation of the final part of this serial.
With the character dialogue being provided by the West Lodge team in their official reconstruction this meant that the Cyberman voices were also attempted by those behind this recreation. As a result, these have been left in for this 2020 Updated Reconstruction as this was a feature that was unique to the original production. Other factors that stood out with the West Lodge original version of The Tenth Planet Episode 4 was the use of different Incidental Music, certain additional sound effects, occasional pieces of video footage and a specific personalised narration among other things. These have all remained IN with this 2020 Updated Reconstruction.
All photographic material has been taken from original VHS sources and includes the earliest forms of the tele-snaps for this episode where ever possible to abide with the time this reconstruction would have been originally made.
I hope you enjoy this truly unique attempt to provide fans an opportunity to experience the last part of a Doctor Who story that not only introduced the Cybermen but features William Hartnell's final appearance as The Doctor himself.
