A pet dog is back to running and jumping around parks after being impaled by a metre-long stick while out on a walk with her owners in Derby a month ago.
Molly, a 17-month-old black labrador, was chasing a ball down a hill in April and ran into a tree branch which became lodged in her chest.
Her owners rushed her to Scarsdale Vets practice in Stapenhill for emergency treatment, managing to keep the stick intact on the way.
Veterinary surgeon Jen Lees and her team shortened the stick in order to prevent further trauma, before anaesthetising Molly, giving her a CT scan and operating on her.
Luckily, the stick had missed all of Molly's major organs, blood vessels and arteries and she was able to go home five days later.
Just over a month after the accident and Molly's wounds are healing well with no adverse effects from the incident.
