Shocking video shows a large road which was closed after it was turned into a MUDSLIDE thanks to heavy rainfall in the South West. The A358 near Combe Florey in Somerset was buried under a huge layer of mud thanks to a mudslide yesterday evening. The video, from Somerset County Council, shows a digger at work as they make progress to clear the road. A tweet shared this morning said: "A decision was taken after an inspection to close the road overnight as it was not safe attempt a clear-up operation until the morning." A later update explained: "So far the team has shifted over 50 tonnes of mud and potatoes...yes potatoes. "It's taking a little longer due to the sheer amount of debris - aiming to open 3-4pm - we'll keep you posted. "The team is working hard to ensure no chips on drivers' windscreens. They added: "We will be investigating the cause of the mud slip."
