'DEAD MEAT'
Members of the Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines call on the government not to extend Executive Order 171, which temporarily modifies the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. The EO, issued by then president Rodrigo Duterte, allowed the entry of cheaper meat imports into the country to combat the rising prices of meat products. The current administration is keen on extending the EO. The group said on Tursday, Dec. 1, 2022 that if President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos will extend the EO, the pork industry in the Philippines will die.
