Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has called for an “overall audit” of the UK’s relationship with China, after a parliamentary researcher was arrested on suspicion of spying for the country.
The Labour frontbencher said: “Clearly there are risks to our national security from China that are not being taken seriously enough … we have to cooperate with China on things like climate change but we also have to make sure that our national security is protected.” Report by Buseld.
