anyone believes he is. He’s not even the greatest Ronaldo if you consider his overall statistics, let alone the greatest soccer player.
And he’s not even the greatest Brazilian soccer player of all time either. The country had people like Pelé, Garrincha, Zico, Romário, Jairzinho, Rivelino and so many others. He’s certainly among the best, but it’s insane to put him so clearly above all these people.
He was great, yes, but objectively he isn’t the greatest in any relevant statistics, except in world cups, in which he’s in second place after Klose. It’s particularly impressive considering he didn’t really play in 1994 so he has an average of 5 goals per cup.
But overall he doesn’t have nearly as many goals as many other players, nor the best goal ratio or the biggest number of trophies.
And he’s also not the greatest subjectively, as he’s not one of the biggest idols of all time worldwide. Even in Brazil I probably wouldn’t put him among the top 5 most popular players of all time.
