After the tragic death of his young son Gage, Louis Creed buries him in an ancient burial ground with the hope of bringing him back to life, despite warnings that "sometimes, dead is better." When Gage returns malevolent and murderous, killing their neighbor Jud and his own mother Rachel, Louis, in his grief and desperation, decides to bury Rachel in the same cursed ground after Gage kills her. Believing she will come back differently, Louis waits for her return. Rachel is resurrected but with a horrifying and violent demeanor, leading to a chilling conclusion as the consequences of defying death once again prove catastrophic.
