GREEK PHILOSOPHY

“There is geometry in the humming of the strings. There is MUSIC in the spacing of the spheres.” ~ Pythagoras (vegan)

HINDUISM

“The yogin being in the siddhasana (posture) and practicing the Vaishnavi-Mudra, should always hear the INTERNAL SOUND […] The Sound which he thus practices makes him (as if) deaf to all external sounds. Having overcome all obstacles, he enters the turiya state within fifteen days.”

Yogin means spiritual practitioners. Turiya is a state of higher spiritual consciousness. ~ Nada-Bindu Upanishad

“The mind having at first concentrated itself on any one Sound fixes firmly to that and is absorbed in it. […] Just as the bee drinking the honey alone does not care for the odor, so the citta which is always absorbed in SOUND, does not long for sensual objects, as it is bound by the sweet smell of nada and has abandoned its flitting nature. […] The mind, which along with Prana has its karmic affinities destroyed by the constant CONCENTRATION UPON NADA, is absorbed in the unstained One.”

Citta means attention. Nada means the subtle inner Heavenly Sound. ~ Nada-Bindu Upanishad

INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS

“Hearing about Him [the Lord] means immediate contact with Him by the process of VIBRATION OF THE TRANSCENDENTAL SOUND. And the transcendental Sound is so effective that It acts at once by removing all material affections…” ~ Srila Prabhupada (vegetarian)

ISLAM

“Allah will not let him (the Prophet) die till He makes straight the crooked people by making them say: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,’ with which WILL BE OPENED BLIND EYES AND DEAF EARS and enveloped hearts.’” ~ Hadith 3:335

“The entire world is filled with the DIVINE LIGHT AND SOUND OF GOD. The blind still asks where God is. Cleanse your ears that are filled with the wax of arrogance and skepticism, and then you will hear the Sound in every direction coming from the Heavens above. It is a mystery why we wait to hear the Divine trumpet resounding on the Day of Judgment, when THE SWEET SOUND OF THE DIVINE TRUMPET RESOUNDS UNCEASINGLY.” ~ Mughal Prince Muhammad Dara Shikoh (vegetarian)

ISLAM (Sufism)

“Moses heard this SOUND on Mount Sinai when in communion with God, and the same WORD was audible to Christ when absorbed in His Heavenly Father in the wilderness. Shiva heard the same Anahad NADA during His samadhi in the cave of the Himalayas. The flute of Krishna is symbolic of the same Sound. THIS SOUND IS THE SOURCE OF ALL REVELATION to the Masters to whom it is revealed from within. It is because of this that They know and teach one and the same truth.” ~ Hazrat Inayat Khan (vegetarian)
