More than 35% of teachers’ quarters under the Education Ministry are unoccupied, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh stated that the ministry conducted a year-long study starting in December 2022 to explore alternative uses for these vacant quarters, and the findings revealed that nearly half of the units (7,201) may need to be repurposed from their original function.
