Another lawmaker backs death penalty vs corruption
Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chairman of the House of Representatives' Dangerous Drugs Committee, says on Jan. 22, 2025 that he was in favor of a bill that penalized those convicted of corruption with the death penalty through firing squad, adding that he is in favor of expanding it to other heinous crimes, including drugs. Barbers also discussed the testimony of Police Col. Hector Grijaldo and of the committee's plans as the House enters its last two weeks before the campaign period begins in February
