Six rockets were fired from Lebanon at Metula on Saturday morning, marking the first attack on Israel's northern border since December. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded with airstrikes on dozens of Hezbollah rocket launchers and a command center in southern Lebanon.
The IDF said air defenses intercepted three rockets that crossed the border, while the other three fell short in Lebanon. No injuries or damage were reported in Israel.
Lebanese media said two people, including a girl, were killed in a strike on Touline, with eight others injured.
Defense Minister Israel Katz said he ordered the IDF to respond and appeared to threaten strikes on Beirut.
Hours later, Hezbollah denied firing the rockets.
The IDF called the attack a “blatant violation” of the Israel-Lebanon agreement and said Lebanon is responsible for upholding it.
