U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called Japan an "indispensable partner" for countering Chinese aggression in the Asia-Pacific region, including the Taiwan Strait. He made the remarks at a meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Nakatani Gen, in Tokyo, part of his first trip to the region as defense secretary.
