The agreement allows ICE to request information from the IRS on immigrants with final removal orders or under criminal investigation. Undocumented immigrants contribute billions in taxes, often using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. Advocates and experts say the IRS has long promised that their information would remain confidential.
