A month after the gruesome murder of 29-year-old Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Meerut, whose wife and her paramour concealed his dismembered body in a blue drum, the city was struck by another unsettling event. A woman killed her husband with her lover's help and tried to pass off murder as a death due to snakebite by placing a venomous snake near the dead body. However, the post-mortem report blew the lid off their plot as it showed that the man had been strangled to death. Subsequently, police arrested both the woman, 30-year-old Ravita, and her lover 20-year-old Amardeep.
