The video was created as part of the corn campaign, which was actively promoted by Nikita Khrushchev. We discussed why the Secretary General decided to make corn the main agricultural product of the USSR and how this campaign ultimately proved to be a failure. Corn became the focal point of the first Soviet advertisement, which was broadcast nationwide on television. The video was released in 1964, at a time when approximately 10 million Soviet families owned televisions.
