Matt Pole is joined by Sussex sport guru Steve Bone and two guests - Will Hugall, who covers football and other sports across Sussex for us, and Lewes FC men’s manager Craig Nelson.
Craig was appointed as the new manager at the Dripping Pan at the end of last season following the departure of Tony Russell and has had a successful season at the helm.

Pitts’ as he is known, had been managing Glebe FC in the 2023-24 season at step five of the non-league pyramid, where he had the team sitting at the top of the league for most of the season.

In his playing career, he became established at Tooting & Mitcham before progressing into coaching, and then on to what was his first managerial role at Glebe.

After he was appointed at Lewes, plenty of neutrals thought the Rooks could struggle in the Isthmian Premier with a new management team untried at step three and with many other changes at the club too, on and off the field.

But the Rooks got off to a flyer and led the table at one stage. Results have evened out as the season has gone but they have been well clear of the relegation battle throughout and will finish after this weekend’s final game somewhere between 12th and 14th.

But the bad news for Lewes fans is this will be Craig’s final game in the Dripping Pan dugout - as was announced recently, he has landed the role of manager of Tonbridge Angels, who are in the National League South.
