Apple plans to import most iPhones sold in the U.S. from India by the end of next year, according to Bloomberg. The move would roughly double Apple's India output to more than 80 million units annually, up from just over 40 million in the fiscal year through March 2025. Apple’s shift is driven by Trump-era tariffs and ongoing U.S.-China tensions, as well as disruptions caused by Covid lockdowns at Chinese plants. About 20% of all iPhones are now made in India, where Foxconn and Tata are expanding operations.
