The Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations reports that Musk used his role in the Department of Government Efficiency under Trump to evade oversight, stop investigations, and neutralize legal threats. On the day Trump took office, Musk’s companies faced at least 65 regulatory actions totaling $2.37 billion in potential liability, including $1.19 billion tied to Tesla’s autopilot claims. The White House rejected the allegations as “completely false and defamatory.”
