Amazon said Tuesday it had considered showing import charges on ultradiscount items but clarified the plan was never approved and will not be implemented, according to CNBC. The proposed change would have impacted products on Haul, Amazon’s separate discount platform launched last year to compete with Temu, featuring items priced at $20 or less. An Amazon spokesperson said the Haul team considered listing import charges on some products, but the idea was never approved and will not proceed. Punchbowl News reported that Amazon planned to display tariff costs next to product prices, prompting a sharp response from the White House. After Amazon denied the report, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick praised the clarification as a “good move.”
