Inspector Ghote arrives in England on an invite to the flat of retired Colonel Bressingham and his wife, but is puzzled when they deny having ever invited him. Although he is permitted to stay there, along with their Indian maid, Ghote begins to get an uneasy feeling that something is not quite right. And it seems that his feelings were correct when something happens during the night...
