Britain's King Charles, Queen Camilla unveil new coronation portraits
The official coronation portraits of Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla were unveiled on Tuesday, May 6, at the National Gallery in London.
Tuesday marks two years since Charles’ coronation, Britain's biggest ceremonial event for seven decades.
Artist Peter Kuhfeld said he envisioned the throne room at St. James’s Palace as the ideal location for the king's portrait, adding that he prayed for sun and “eventually we got it on one day.”
The artist who painted the queen's portrait, Paul Benney, said he chatted a lot with the queen during the process.
