The Health Ministry will table working papers on the medicine price display order and consultation fees for private general practitioners (GPs) in the coming weeks, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced.
At the post-Cabinet press conference on Wednesday (May 7), Fahmi—who also serves as the government spokesman—said the Prime Minister has instructed Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad to urgently address concerns raised by private medical practitioners, including the possible application of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (Act 723) under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
He added that the Cabinet has taken note of the ongoing review of consultation charges at private clinics and that the matter will be further examined.
