India has opened three gates of the Salal Dam on the Chenab River to ease pressure caused by heavy rainfall.
Footage shows torrents of water rushing through the dam in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian officials say the move is aimed at managing rising water levels — but across the border, Pakistani media are warning of possible flooding in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Tensions are already high. Earlier this week, India carried out strikes on what it called “terrorist infrastructure” — Pakistan called it an “act of war.”
India also withdrew from the Indus Waters Treaty — a decades-old agreement on sharing river water — after a deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir, which New Delhi blames on Pakistan.
