Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on May 10 announced that the stoppage of firing and military action between India & Pakistan was worked out directly b/w two countries. Pakistani Director General of Military Operations initiated the call on May 10, after which discussions took place & an understanding was reached. In a late night address, Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif, however chose to indulge in chest thumping as he credited his troops for the valour shown. Pak PM also blatantly offered ‘lies’ saying “his country responded positively in the interest of world and regional peace”. His statement came as Pakistan had already violated the understanding by continuing shelling and sending drones across border. At a special briefing, Foreign Secy Vikram Misri addressed the issue and said this was a breach of understanding and India takes "very serious note of these violations". The foreign secretary informed that the Indian Army was retaliating appropriately and was sternly dealing with the border intrusions. Misri said India's Armed Forces have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of violations of the border along IB as well as LoC. Alongside, India had warned Pakistan that any further terrorist action would be considered an act of war. India called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. Pakistan had suffered serious loses in short conflict with four of its air bases targeted on May 10 morning. This was a retaliation against Pakistan pushing drones and missile into Indian territory after ‘Operation Sindoor’.
