Tamara and Gary Holm, a couple from Los Angeles, have spent €250k turning two derelict homes in Sambuca di Sicilia, Italy, into their dream property.
Initially inspired by Sicily’s ‘one euro’ homes, they bought their first home for €19,000 in 2019, followed by a neighbouring property for €8,000.
Despite facing challenges like structural issues and the pandemic, they combined both homes into a beautiful, four-bedroom residence.
Their renovation, completed in 2024, includes a massive terrace with stunning views, a pizza oven, and a vibrant local community.
The couple, who now visit regularly, have fallen in love with their new Italian lifestyle.
