"Long Road Ahead" is the third episode of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead: Season One, serving as the third episode of the series overall.[3] It was written by Sean Vanaman and directed by Eric Parsons.[3]
Plot Summary
The episode begins a week after the events of "Starved For Help". The survivors have been using the Travelier Motel for shelter and conducting supply runs.[3] Lee and Kenny are on a supply run in Macon, where they encounter a screaming woman surrounded by walkers.[1] [3] A tough decision arises: shoot the woman to end her suffering or leave her alive as a distraction to allow Lee and Kenny more time to collect supplies from a nearby drugstore.[1] [3] Depending on this choice, the amount of time available to scavenge for supplies in the pharmacy section of the drugstore varies.[1] [3] After collecting supplies, Lee and Kenny must escape the drugstore as walkers breach the entrance, involving quick time events (QTEs) and barricading a door with a refrigerator.[1] [3]
Returning to the Motor Inn, Lee and Kenny brief Lilly on the supply run.[1] [3] The amount of supplies retrieved impacts Lilly's reaction.[3] An argument ensues between Lilly and Kenny regarding the group's future, with Kenny advocating to leave the motel due to dwindling resources and Lilly expressing concerns about a traitor stealing medicine supplies.[1] [3] Lilly reveals she found a broken flashlight discarded, which she believes is evidence of someone sneaking out supplies.[3] Lee can choose to agree to help investigate or not, but he will still look for clues.[1] [3] With or without Duck's help, Lee investigates the broken flashlight and stolen supplies.[1] [3] He finds broken glass matching the flashlight, a pink chalk 'X' on a wall, and eventually discovers a hidden stash of opiates in a grate outside the motel walls.[1] [3]
Before Lilly can confront the group about the findings, armed bandits attack the Motor Inn, holding the survivors hostage in retaliation for not receiving a drug shipment.[1] [3] Lilly orders Lee to create a distraction while she gets into a sniping position.[1] [3] Lee attempts to talk to the bandits, but Lilly shoots one of them, leading to a firefight.[1] [3] The survivors scramble to escape to the RV.[1] [3] Lee, potentially aided by Carley or Doug (depending on a previous choice), fends off bandits and walkers.[1] [3] Katjaa and Duck are attacked by a walker, injuring Katjaa.[3] Kenny struggles to start the RV, eventually succeeding and smashing through the wall to escape with the group, potentially leaving Lilly behind depending on Lee's actions.[1] [3]
Hours later, while on the road in the RV, tensions remain high.[3] Lilly accuses someone within the RV of being responsible for the bandit attack, based on Lee's findings.[3] Depending on who was saved in "A New Day", Lilly may accuse Ben or Carley.[3] A heated argument escalates, leading to a confrontation on the side of the road.[1] [3] During this argument, a gunshot occurs, resu
