‘Three Ages’ is a 1923 American silent comedy film directed by Buster Keaton and Edward F. Cline. It was Keaton’s first feature-length film, structured as three interwoven stories set in different historical periods: the Stone Age, Ancient Rome, and the Roaring Twenties. Each segment follows Keaton’s character as he competes for the love of the same woman, played by Margaret Leahy, against a rival played by Wallace Beery. The film cleverly parodies D.W. Griffith’s ‘Intolerance’ (1916) and showcases Keaton’s signature physical comedy and inventive storytelling.
