Award-winning Paraorchestra, Artistic Director and conductor Charles Hazlewood, and Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller create The Bradford Progress for Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, an extraordinary collaboration with hundreds of local musicians and singers celebrating the people, communities and musical traditions of Bradford District.
Over two days, The Bradford Progress began at sunrise on Saturday 17 May, against the backdrop of the Cow and Calf Rocks on Ilkley Moor.
The journey continued over the weekend, with the public invited to join as musicians perform along the way. From Qawwali music on a bandstand, 60 Paraorchestra musicians performed Steve Reich in a shopping arcade, Handel arias on the moor, and marching bands played pop and Bollywood musicians made their way through a housing estate.
The Bradford Progress culminated at the Mirror Pool in Bradford city centre on the afternoon of Sunday 18 May, when all the musicians are united for a joyous and harmonious finale.
