Russian experts from the state-owned corporation Rostec claim to have identified significant vulnerabilities in the German-made Leopard 2 tanks captured during combat in Ukraine. According to the technical analysis, the armor and internal layout of these vehicles are not suited to the demands of modern warfare.

"The Leopard 2 tank, examined by our specialists, showed vulnerabilities in its defense. These are related to both the thickness and composition of the armor and the internal layout of the combat vehicle," Rostec stated. The corporation argues that the Leopard 2's protection was designed for conventional threats of past decades and lacks optimal capability to withstand drones equipped with shaped-charge warheads and modern anti-tank missiles.

It is important to note that Rostec is a Russian state defense company, and its analysis reflects a viewpoint aligned with the Kremlin's strategic interests. Independent analysts do not consider these assessments impartial.

The disclosure follows the release of a video by the Russian Ministry of Defense, in which drone operators from the Rubicon Center are shown destroying a Leopard tank belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Stepanovka in the Donetsk region.

In addition to the Leopard 2, the Kyiv government also operates older variants such as the Leopard 1, which according to the Russians, "have lost much of their combat effectiveness."
