In Game of Thrones Season 4, Episode 10 – "The Children," Bran Stark, Hodor, Meera, and Jojen Reed reach the ancient weirwood tree beyond the Wall. As they approach, skeletal wights erupt from the ground and attack. Jojen is fatally wounded in the fight. Just in time, a Child of the Forest named Leaf appears, using magical firebombs to save the others. She mercy-kills Jojen and leads the survivors into a hidden cave, where they meet the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven.
