A major tragedy was narrowly avoided in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, as a conspiracy to derail two trains — Rajdhani Express (20504) and Kathgodam Express (15044) — was foiled due to the swift action of alert loco pilots.
Miscreants had planted earthing wires and wooden blocks on the down track near km 1129/14 between Dalelnagar and Umratali stations, in an attempt to derail the trains. However, Rajdhani Express was stopped using the emergency brake, while Kathgodam Express was saved due to timely action by the crew.
Following the incident, teams from GRP, RPF, and local police rushed to the spot and have launched a full investigation into the sabotage attempt.
