Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets in IPL 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on May 19. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first. Aiden Markram (61) and Mitchell Marsh (65) gave Lucknow Super Giants a flying start in the powerplay. They raced off the blocks and dominated in the first ten overs. The first wicket well after 10th over when debutant Harsh Dubey dismissed Mitchell Marsh. After this, the Super Giants innings started to lose momentum. Eshan Malinga (2/28) dismissed Rishabh Pant and despite Nicholas Pooran's explosive batting at one end, runs dried up and Super Giants ended up with 205/7 on the board. Chasing it, Atharva Taide lost his wicket early to debutant Will O'Rourke, but Abhishek Sharma (59 off 20) played a blinder. Digvesh Rathi (2/37) dismissed Abhishek and Ishan Kishan (35) but it was not enough as Heinrich Klaasen (47) and Kamindu Mendis (32) ensured Sunrisers Hyderabad's victory. This is the fourth victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 and seventh loss for Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow Super Giants. are now knocked out of the playoff race.
