DBKL mulls setting up zero waste zones in capital

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is considering designating high-traffic areas in the city as zero-waste zones as part of a broader initiative to reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability in the capital.

At the launch of the Kuala Lumpur Towards Zero Waste 2040 Roadmap held at DBKL headquarters on Thursday (May 15), Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the roadmap aims to cut waste by 60% by 2040—comprising a 20% reduction in organic waste and 40% in inorganic waste.
