Rare Napoleon artefacts unveiled at Sotheby’s Hong Kong ahead of Paris sale
A rare collection of Napoleon Bonaparte’s artefacts, featuring items that trace the life and legacy of the French Emperor, was on exhibit in Hong Kong on May 23, 2025, ahead of its auction in Paris this June. The auction includes 150 items curated by collector Pierre-Jean Chalençon. Among the standout pieces are a silver beaker used during the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's consul-era red velvet sleeve, his personal campaign bed, and the imperial throne — the last one still in private hands, with others housed in prestigious institutions such as the Louvre in Paris. The live auction is set to take place on June 25 in Paris
