In a historic milestone for international military cooperation, British Army AH-64E Apache attack helicopters fired AGM-114 Hellfire anti-tank missiles on Finnish soil for the first time.
The operation took place during the multinational exercise Northern Strike 25, held at the Rovajärvi Training Area in Finland, and was officially announced by the Finnish Defence Forces on May 21, 2025.
Northern Strike 25, led by the Kainuu Brigade, involves around 6,500 troops from various NATO nations, including 900 Swedish and 350 British soldiers. Conducted from May 12 to 31, the exercise focuses on allied interoperability and the reinforcement of NATO’s defensive posture on its northern flank.
