Elon Musk criticized the Republican-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, calling it a setback for efforts to curb government waste, according to CNBC. In a preview of his upcoming “CBS Sunday Morning” interview, Musk said the bill increases the deficit and undermines the Department of Government Efficiency, which he chairs. DOGE claims to have saved $170 billion since January, mainly by eliminating redundancies and cutting over 275,000 government jobs. The bill is projected to raise the deficit by $3.8 trillion over ten years, despite GOP claims it will spur enough growth to offset tax cuts. Musk told The Washington Post that he underestimated how dysfunctional the federal bureaucracy is and said DOGE became a scapegoat for broader issues.
