Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Titans by a comfortable 20 run in the IPL 2025 Eliminator match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh on May 30. Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat first. New inclusion Jonny Bairstow along with Rohit Sharma, gave them a flying start and they raced to 79/0 in powerplay. Sai Kishore was the one who dismissed Jonny Bairstow (47) although Rohit Sharma got going and kept powering through. Sai Kishore (2/42) and Prasidh Krishna (2/53) kept chipping in with wickets but Mumbai Indians made their way to 228/5 riding on cameos from Suryakumar Yadav (33), Tilak Varma (25) and Hardik Pandya (22*). Chasing 229, Gujarat Titans had a bad start as they lost Shubman Gill to Trent Boult but Sai Sudharsan (80) once again kept on ticking the scoreboard with support from Kusal Mendis (20) and Washington Sundar (48) from the other end. At one point Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan were taking the game away from Mumbai Indians. But Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Sundar and Richard Gleeson cleaned up Sudharsan. Following this, the Gujarat Titans innings lost momentum and they fell short of the finishing line. With this loss, Gujarat Titans are now knocked out of the IPL 2025 with Mumbai Indians setting up a clash against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2.
