Immersive 'Amplified' exhibit in NYC aims to recreate live rock concert experience
An audio-visual immersive space in New York is looking to do to rock 'n' roll what has already been accomplished for subjects like Vincent van Gogh.
Staged at Artechouse in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and presented by Rolling Stone magazine, “Amplified” is a 50-minute experience featuring still photography and vintage footage set to iconic rock tunes. Among the 30 tracks that are part of the show are The Who's "Baba O'Riley," Kiss's "Rock and Roll All Nite," and Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart," among others.
Culled from 1,000 photographs and 200 videos, the show avoids chronological storytelling, but centers on themes, like cars and live concerts.
