Siliguri (WB), June 2, 2025 (ANI): All shops and markets have been closed following a 24-hour strike called by Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) in West Bengal's Siliguri on June 2.  It has been called to protest against the alleged attacks on Hindus and business establishments in the Matigara area, as well as the arrest of workers from Hindu organisations. The unrest began on May 30 following a dispute over the alleged illegal transportation of meat in a vehicle in Siliguri's Matigara locality. The vehicle was reportedly set on fire, sparking tension between two groups and leading to subsequent police action.
